According to ɾєρօɾτs, West Ham have held ‘initial talks’ with Man Utd over signing Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay this summer.
The Red Devils have already spent around £100m this summer to sign Mason Mount and Andre Onana from Chelsea and Inter Milan respectively.
They are now switching their attention to signing at least one new striker and another midfielder, with Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat among their targets.
Erik ten Hag is also looking to offload some unwanted players to raise funds for his remaining signings. David De Gea, Phil Jones and Anthony Elanga have already moved on this summer and Maguire and McTominay may soon follow them.
Both players were key players forMan Utdprior to last season but they slipped down the pecking order under Ten Hag in 2022/23.
Maguire was ɾєρօɾτedly valued at £50m at the start of this summerbut United’s asking price for him has since been slashed to £35m.
McTominay meanwhile – according to West Ham ɾєρօɾτer Claret and Hugh – is valued quite high at £45m by Man Utd.
“West Ham have confirmed to Claret and Hugh they offered Chelsea £37m plus £3m of add-ons for Conor Gallagher and that it has been rєjєƈτed,” according to Claret and Hugh.
“The Hammers have also disclosed that a bid has been made for Scott McTominay but that too fails to meet the £45m being requested by Manchester United and West Ham insiders are less optimistic a compromise can be reached.”
Sky Sportsare now ɾєρօɾτingthat ‘West Ham have held initial talks with Manchester United over the signings of Maguire and McTominay’. The ɾєρօɾτ adds.
‘Early suggestions indicate a gap in valuations for both players and Sky Sports News has been told United see Maguire and McTominay as top players and very important members of the squad.’
