Ronaldo sent a мєȿȿɑɢє on Instagram after the win, commemorating his dedication to Portugal, saying he had the same commitment as he did when he won his first cap way back in 2003.

And if you had to pick which Manchester United player would reach out to congratulate him… Harry Maguire would not have been on our bingo card.

Yet there he was, replying to Ronaldo’s social media post, with a congratulatory, “Some achievement” мєȿȿɑɢє complete with clapping and fire emojis.

There has been next to no public communication between Manchester United’s players and Ronaldo since his controversial exit from Old Trafford.

Ronaldo recently‘liked’ a post from Diogo Dalotabout his United contract extension, but that’s about as far as his own interaction has gone.

There was widely ɾєρօɾτed to be tension between Ronaldo and Maguire at United, with the number seven believing he should have been captain.

Dwight Yorke toldThe Nationalearlier this year: “There was someone who is really passionate and really loves Manchester United, and wanted to take Manchester United back to the top. But he clearly felt that the only way he could help the club get anywhere near that, I think he needed to be the leader.

“And I think, withHarry Maguirenot being fully in the fold, I felt that Ronaldo didn’t think that was the right call; that he felt he should have led.”

Ronaldo is now leading a football revolution in Saudi Arabia, with more and more players following his decision to join the league.

Harry Maguire is unlikely to be joining them, but it’s nice to see a bit a positive interaction towards Ronaldo from his former teammates, and deserved respect towards his remarkable achievements, which he keeps on adding to at the age of 38.
