Manchester United’s signing of Mason Mount has landed rave reviews from an unlikely source.

Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has said he believes Manchester United have signed a ‘tremєɴԀous’ player in Mason Mount and has been very complimentary about the move.

In recent years the tribalism of football culture has seen pundits line up to criticise Manchester United and their players for a cheap dig.

Look at Graeme Souness’ constant criticism of Paul Pogba, and also ridiculously lambasting Casemiro as a ‘Steady Eddie’ last year.

The rush to write off Lisandro Martinez backfired so spectacularly on Jamie Carragher that he had to issue an apology.

Danny Murphy is another former Liverpool player, who naturally doesn’t go out of his way to praise Manchester United.

But his recent comments about the signing of Mason Mount show the admiration he has for the Ԁєɑł, with the England international’s switch to Old Traffordconfirmed.

Mason Mount move praised

Speaking toFIVE, Danny Murphy spoke highly of Manchester United’s Ԁєɑł to sign Mason Mount.

He said: “I think its a really good signing. The key to it he makes their 11 better. He’s got a tremєɴԀous work ethic.

“Ten hag wants players good behind the ball, we’ve seen that. Two, he’s technically gifted, can score and make goals and I think, better than Eriksen.

“Thirdly, I love about footballers these days, he can play different positions.

“The value he’s got, the potential, I think its a brilliant move.”

He pointed out Mount’s ability to play in a deep midfield role, as a winger, or as a number 10.

He also praised the character shown by the midfielder to take thenumber seven shirt.

He added: “This lad’s saying I’ll take the seven, that says something about him. I’d have said no thanks. What a mentality from Mason Mount.”

The 24-year-old is Manchester United’s first summer signing and more are expected to follow. A goalkeeper and a striker are key priorities.

Mount at least will be in and ready for the start ofpre-season, and that will give the whole squad a lift.
