Even though it has not been officially confirmed,Dani Ceballos is expected to sign a new contractwithReal Madridimminently and prolong his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 26-year-old midfielder’s current contract expires on June 30. And after much thought and deliberation, the Spanish international has seemingly decided to remain with the Spanish capital outfit for longer.
Ceballos’ doubts over signing a new Ԁєɑł emerged from his lack of regular game-time. Even though this past season he played 46 games, only 19 came as starts in La Liga.
Now with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric renewing andJude Bellingham arriving from Borussia Dortmund, things will get tougher for him.
According toMARCA, Ceballos had attracted interest from his former club Real Betis, but has decided to stay put atReal Madridand fight for his place at the Santiago Bernabeu.
This move is seen as a positive one by theMerenguesas they will be retaining a midfielder entering his prime years, especially with Kroos and Modric expected to call time on their careers in the near future.
At the same time, if Ceballos decides to leave at some point in the future,Los Blancosbelieve that he will fetch a good amount as he has a good market value and clubs interested in him.
As such,Real Madridare happy with his decision to renew and do not see it as a bad option at all.
With Ceballos losing his place in the Spain national team for the recent UEFA Nations League, he will have a big task on his hand to win his spot back for the Euros next year. For that to happen, he will need to step up to the challenge atReal Madridand earn his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
