Some of Real Madrid’s foreign players have had a difficult time in Spain in the recent past, often becoming a victim of racial slurs.
Vinicius Junior, in particular, became the main target for racists across various stadiums in Spain this past season. The forwardreceived widespread support from the sports fraternity, but the matter is yet to be resolved.
Now, in another big revelation, it appears Eder Militao was the subject of racial insults as well, during the game against Valencia at Mestalla, where Vinicius himself was heavily targeted by the opposition fɑɴȿ.
This has been confirmed by La Liga (h/tCOPE), which has also released a special investigative ɾєρօɾτ after consulting a lip-reading specialist.
The investigative ɾєρօɾτ regarding alleged racism taking place at Mestalla was ordered by the Valencia court on May 26. The ɾєρօɾτ concluded that in addition to Vinicius, Militao, too, was a subject of racial insults.
The investigation found three perpetrators – all Valencia fɑɴȿ, who had either said or implied racial abuses at the defєɴԀer. La Liga have made some strides in taking action against such perpetrators in the past, butReal Madrid, along with some of its star players, insist it is not enough.
Apart from Militao and Vinicius, La Liga has also asked legal entities to offer proper services to Samuel Chukuwheze, the Villarreal attacker, for the racial abuses he received on his last visit to the Mallorca Stadium.
The growing cases of racial abuse being hurled towards players in Spanish football is indeed a concerning sign. The authorities must take stronger action to prevent such outcomes, especially as they prepare for the season ahead.
