The Gunners boss has been told that Bukayo Saka could be worth as much as £200million by one former Arsenal star, while another likened the Emirates ace to Lionel Messi.
Arsenal’sBukayo Sakahas had a £200million price tag slapped on his head and has been compared toLionel Messiafter his glorious goal during the Gunners’ opening game againstNottingham Forest.
TheArsenalacademy graduate is now widely viewed as one of the best players in thePremier Leaguedespite still only being 21 years of age, but some clearly feel that the sky is the limit for Saka. TheEngland acesaw his season get off to a great start against Forest when he curled home a stunning left-footed effort from outside the box, which left his former team-mate Matt Turner diving in vain.
Hopes are high among the Emirates faithful that Saka can be the one to inspire Arsenal to title glory this time around after their second-placed finish last term. His recent contract extension was undoubtedly a more important piece of business than any new arrival but were Saka to ever leave, one ex-Gunner thinks he’d fetch quite the fee.
When asked how much Saka is worth currently, Johan Djourou exclusively told Ladbrokes Fanzone: “Players like Saka are so important to this Arsenal side; more often than not he’s the guy who makes the difference.
“When you look at the amount of money that’s been spent on players in this transfer window if a Man City or someone was to come in for Saka this summer, I think they’d have to go as high as maybe £200m.
“I’d say £200m because, in this day and age, it’s difficult to understand the value of players in the market. Especially English players, who always seem to go for a little bit more. It’s tough to actually say how much he’s worth.”
High praise indeed, but Djourou isn’t the only one to recently wax lyrical about Saka’s influence on this Arsenal side. FormerChelseaace and three-time Premier League winner Joe Cole also spoke glowingly about the Gunners number seven and compared him to a footballing great.
