United’sbid would see them pay an initial £45m fee forMount, within a further £5m in add-ons, but Chelsea are holding out for around £15m more as part of the up-front transfer fee.

While the two clubs are continuing to try and thrash out the framework of a Ԁєɑł, United have a limit to how high they will go and are reluctant to keep increasing their offer for a player who has a year left on his contract and has shown no desire to extєɴԀ his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Mount is keen to make the move to Old Trafford and Chelsea need to sell players as they seek to offset their £600m spєɴԀing spree in the previous two transfer windows under Todd Boehly’s ownership.

United’s first offer of £40m for Mount was rєjєƈτed by Chelsea but there is a hope that talks will now yield a Ԁєɑł that is considered acceptable to all parties.

Mount is a product of the Chelsea academy and is five games short of making 200 appearances for the club, but talks over a new Ԁєɑł have stalled this season.

The 24-year-old fits the bill for an Erik ten Hag midfield, with his versatility, pressing and intelligence all traits admired by the Dutchman. Mount came up against Ten Hag’s Ajax while on loan with Vitesse Arnhem in the 2017/18 season.

If the two clubs can agree a Ԁєɑł then personal terms are expected to be a formality.
