Man Utd are open to transferring squad players this summer to help fund new additions.

West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay but would have to offer at least £40million.

McTominay, 26, started only 16 times for United last season and his standing in the midfield is under mounting pressure from the 18-year-oldKobbie Mainoo, who excelled again in his third consecutive start in pre-season against Arsenal.

West Ham are seeking a replacement for Declan Rice, who was sold to Arsenal for £105million, and manager David Moyes is an admirer of McTominay. McTominay’s agent, Colin Murdock, played under Moyes at Preston North єɴԀ and the Scot’s partner lives in London.

Unitedhad not provisionally ρłɑɴned to sell McTominay as Fred was identified as the midfielder to make way for new signing Mason Mount while manager Erik ten Hag values McTominay’s versatility and homegrown status.

However, McTominay is keen for regular playing time and it is understood he could assess his situation closer to the transfer deadline on September 1.

United will not force McTominay out but a compelling offer of between £40m-£50m could lead them to consider selling the academy graduate as they might then recruit a younger defensive midfielder.

McTominay is under contract at United until 2025 and he is a regular for the Scotland national side who are top of their European Championship qualifying group – above Spain and Norway.
