Manchester United are linked with a move for England striker Harry Kane which could be funded via player sales.

Harry Kanehas re-emerged as a possible target for Manchester United. The Guardianɾєρօɾτ Tottenham owner Joe Lewis wants to cash in on Kane, and does not wish to lose him on a free transfer next summer with his contract running down.

United are said to be interested in the striker and the £100 million fee is not claimed to be an issue.

This is only going to be possible if United get a move on with player sales. Let’s explore how this could be possible.

Ԁєɑłs complete

Confirmed exits:Alex Telles, Charlie ȿɑⱱɑɢє, Ethan Laird, Bjorn Hardley and Zidane Iqbal

Manchester United have sold five players this summer to date.Alex Telleshas joined Al Nassr for £6 million.

Charlie ȿɑⱱɑɢє,Ethan Laird,Bjorn HardleyandZidane Iqbalwere each sold for six-figure fees, taking United’s total earnings to approximately £9 million to date.

It’s not a lot, but it’s a start, and there are certainly more exits ahead.

Expected sales to come

One sale is almost complete.Anthony Elangais set to sign for Nottingham Forest for £15 million,The Telegraphɾєρօɾτ. That will take United’s earnings up to £24 million.

Another move to Forest could be in the pipeline forDean HєɴԀerson. This could be around £20 million.

Eric Baillyis another player expected to leave the club. He could fetch a similar fee to Telles, which with HєɴԀerson and Elanga, would take United’s earnings up to £50 million.

Fredis also likely to be sold. Fulham are among the interested clubs. United should receive around £15 million, taking potential sums to £65 million in player sales.

Possible exits

This is where potential departures forHarry MaguireandScott McTominaycould really heighten the club’s budget.

Maguire and McTominay could each fetch £30 million. Selling both players could take United’s total income from sales to £125 million.

There could be further sales too ofNathan BishopandBrandon Williams. This could take us up to £130 million.

Donny van de Beekis another possible outgoing although we predict this may be a loan move.

Obviously some of this money could be spent on an additional midfielder,Sofyan Amrabat, and Kane might still not be gettable.

These sales would give United options, also clearing a bit of wage space. There is a long way to go, but it illustrates how the club can negotiate the Financial Fair Play challenges and find necessary funds to buy extra players.
