Days ahead of Levitt’s contract expiring, United activated a one-year extension clause on his Ԁєɑł.

Dylan Levitt release clause

According toThe Athletic, Manchester United negotiated a 25 per cent sell on clause as part of the Ԁєɑł to sell Levitt.

Now that clause is bearing fruition, just a little early, and without the substance United would have hoped for.

Levitt has switched clubs, signing for Scottish competitors Hibernian, leaving a side which suffered relegation and joining a club which finished fifth.

Manager Lee Johnson toldBBC Sport: “Dylan adds real quality to our midfield. He joins us with good pedigree, has a great passing range, and will fit seamlessly into our evolving squad.”

Here’s the bad news. The Scotsmanɾєρօɾτ Hibernian have paid only £300,000 to sign Levitt, who has penned a three-year Ԁєɑł.

This provides Manchester United with just a £75,000 cash boost. It’s not what the Red Devils would have had in mind when he was sold.

It’s ɾєρօɾτed a club in Portugal was also keen, along with Hearts, Wigan Athletic and Cardiff City.

Despite Levitt’s obvious talent, having also established himself as part of the Wales squad, Manchester United failed to generate a decent fee for him.

That’s been a common theme in recent seasons, continuing this summer, with bothZidane IqbalandEthan Lairdsold for less than a million each.
