Mаn ᴜtd рᴜll oᴜt of £50m trаnѕfer wіtһ Ten һаg now forced to look аt cһeарer oрtіonѕ

Man Utd can’t afford to buy Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and will now move on to cheaper options, according to ɾєρօɾτs.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of goalkeepers as David de Gea’s future remains up in the air this summer despite his contract coming to an єɴԀ last week.

Man Utd released a short ȿτɑτємєɴτ at the єɴԀ of last week, it read:”David De Gea’s contract is due to run out but discussions remain open with the long-serving keeper.”

The Red Devils ɾєρօɾτedly agreed a £200k-a-week contract with De Gea last monthbut chose to back out at the last minuteand have now put a new offer on the table for even less money.

It is understood that De Gea – who was previously happy to take a big pay cut before their U-turn – is now‘considering his options’with an offer from Saudi Arabia on the table.

Widespread ɾєρօɾτs have indicated that Inter goalkeeper Onana would be the man to replace De Gea with the Serie A side asking for around £50m for his services.

However,The Metroclaims that Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has been ‘forced to consider cheaper alternatives as the club are unable to sanction’ a move for Onana.

There have been ɾєρօɾτs that the Red Devils only have a £120m transfer budget for the summer transfer window and, with Mason Mount set to sign for around £60m, it leaves Man Utd ‘walking a Financial Fair Play tightrope’.

The Metroadds:

‘Without significant departures, Ten Hag will be forced to choose between Onana and a £60m-rated striker and the Dutchman feels a forward is the more pressing concern.

‘United are therefore looking at cheaper alternatives to Onana, with Frankfurt stopper Kevin Trapp in the frame.’

Inter CEOBeppe Marotta ɾєⱱєɑłєԀ late last week that the rumours of Man Utd interest in the Cameroon international are true.

Marotta said: “Manchester United have expressed an interest (in Onana) which may or may not lead to an offer in the next few days.

“Once that happens, both Inter and the player will carefully assess it.”

Italian newspaperGazzetta Dello Sportɾєρօɾτed yesterday that ‘contacts are constant’ between Man Utd and Inter over Onana but that an official bid had still not arrived from Manchester.
