Liverpool star urges Jurgen Klopp to sign £55m Newcastle target who is like his ‘little brother’

Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate has declared that he ‘hopes’ Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram signsk for the Reds this summer.

It’s no secret that Jurgen Klopp is looking to further improve his midfield ahead of next season. This is despite already signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.

Thuram has been linked with a move to Liverpool for some time, with a bid of £55m ɾєρօɾτedly required to secure his services.

However, the Reds face competition from one of their Premier League rivals.

Indeed, as ɾєρօɾτed by Football365,Newcastle United have joined the race for Thuram. Although, they are only willing to pay £50m for the Frenchman.

So, if Liverpool meet his price tag, they have a great chance of signing him this summer.

Now, Konate has said he wants Thuam to make the switch to Anfield, and even promised to ‘take him under his wing.’

In an interview withRMC Sport,he said:”I would be very happy for him [Thuram] to come to Liverpool. I would take him under my wing and I would do everything for him to progress and become the player he wants to become.”

“Khephren is like my little brother, he’s someone I saw growing up. I was with his big brother in the training centre, but I saw him grow.

“I saw him perform and progress at a level… It was incredible. Even when he came to the France team for his first selection.

“I saw him at the training and I was really surprised by his size and his technical ease.

“When I was in Leipzig and I signed for Liverpool, many people said that it was too early, that it was not the right choice. In the єɴԀ, I proved all these people wrong so you shouldn’t listen to people.

“If Khephren has the opportunity to come to a club like Liverpool, I think he will be surprised the enthusiasm that will come behind him.

“It’s up to him to work. He’s still very young but he has an incredible margin for improvement so I’m confident.”

In 2022/23, Thuram made 35 Ligue 1 appearances in 2022/23. In the process, he scored two goals and made four assists.

A strong defensive midfielder, the Frenchman could be an excellent long-term replacement for Jordan HєɴԀerson. And, he could make a solid midfield partner for Mac Allister next season.

So, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool take Konate’s advice and beat Newcastle to Thuram’s signature.
