Liverpool starDiogo Jotahas stated he thinks he’ll “link up very well” withAlexis Mac Allisterafter playing his first match with him, as he detailed how he “really likes” the type of player the midfielder is.
Mac Allister is one of just two signings so far this season at Anfield – the other being Dominik Szoboszlai. Both new additions are midfielders, owing to the fact that area of the pitch was overrun on occasion last season.
Beyond that, three midfielders have left permanently, one on loan, and Jordan HєɴԀerson and Fabinho could soon exit, both to different Saudi Arabian sides.
As such, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai might have to pick up the slack. It seems Mac Allister already feels right at home, and his teammates are enjoying his company.
Indeed, he’s played one game in a Reds shirt, a friєɴԀly against Karlsruher, and he assisted forward star Jota after coming on off the bench.
Jota is clearly very happy with the fact he’s likely going to get similar service thɾօυɢҺout the season, as he heaped praise on his new teammate.
“I really like these kinds of players,”Jota told LFCTV.
“They just see these passes.”
Jota feels their relationship will blossom thɾօυɢҺout the season, when he’ll be blessed with more assists from Mac Allister.
“I just need to make the run and he will make it [the pass]. I think I will link up very well with him,” he added.
The return of Jota to full fitness will also be something thatLiverpoolare happy about. Two seasons ago, the Portuguese scored 21 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions.
However, he was plagued by injuries last season, meaning he was only able to start 12 games in the league. He still managed to score seven goals and chip in with four assists in his 22 league games.
As such, if he is able to play a full season, or at least not miss as much of the campaign as he did last term, the Reds should be in better form in front of goal, which could well allow them to win more games, and have a better season than the last one, when they finished fifth.
