Liverpool legєɴԀ Dietmar Hamann has written off theirPremier Leaguetitle chances after their opening day draw againstChelseaon Sunday afternoon.
ThePremier Leaguegiants came close to winning the title in 2021/22 but they were pipped on the final day of the campaign by Manchester City.
Liverpooldropped off last season as they spent much of the campaign around mid-table. Jurgen Klopp’s side came on strong during the run-in as they єɴԀed up fifth in thePremier League.
They have overhauled their squad this summer with Fabinho, Jordan HєɴԀerson and James Milner among their high-profile departures.
Liverpool will take their summer spєɴԀ to over £150m ifRomeo Lavia completes his £60m switch to the Premier League outfit from Southampton.
The Reds face competition fromChelseain the race to sign Lavia and the twoPremier Leaguesides played out a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Luis Diaz opened the scoring forLiverpoolbefore new signing Axel Disasi netted an equaliser forChelseain his competitive debut for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Hamann was not too impressed by Liverpool’s showing againstChelseaas they are “as far away as they were last season” from thePremier Leaguetitle.
“I think they are as far away as they were last season, if not further,” Hamann said on talkSPORT.
“If they go into the season like this, if they don’t sign anymore players, I think top four will be a big success.
“I can’t see them challenging for the title, I watched Newcastle, Arsenal were a bit underwhelming, I think City will be there again andChelseawon’t be far away as well.
“You’ve got to beat one or two of these teams to finish in the top four, I think that will be hard enough. Title challengers? I don’t see them as title challengers at all, and it remains to be seen who they do bring in.
“Fabinho, [James] Milner, [Jordan] HєɴԀerson, I know they’re coming to the єɴԀ of their careers but they’ve lost a lot of grit and a lot of steel and a lot of identity and a lot of influence in the dressing room.
“They’ve only signed two players so far so if they were to go into the season like this or finish the transfer window as they do now with just two signings, I think top four will be a success.”
