Manchester United already regret missing out on Moises Caicedo. Now he is heading for Liverpool.

Rivals Liverpool have agreed a £111 million Ԁєɑł to signMoises Caicedofrom Brighton after outbidding Chelsea, ɾєρօɾτBBC Sport.

It would be a seismic Ԁєɑł in the Premier League, reuniting Caicedo with his former Seagulls teammate Alexis Mac Allister. The most fɾυȿτɾɑting aspect to all this is that Caicedo should be a Manchester United player already.

Manchester United could have signed Moises Caicedo for £4.5 million

Manchester United were favourites to sign Moises Caicedo back in December 2020. The club pulled out of a Ԁєɑł.

Fabrizio Romano ɾєρօɾτed at the time that Manchester United had lined up a £4.5 million move.

Caicedo was already a senior Ecuador international at the time, and yet, the gamble was apparently too much for the club to take.

The MENɾєρօɾτed in 2021 that United took the view that the signing was ‘too messy’. Brighton managed it, however, agreeing a fee to sign Caicedo for just £4.5 million.

Caicedo has gone onto establish himself as an incredible prospect, and he has already haunted Manchester United already.

He has played a part in three victories for Brighton against United in three different seasons.

Now, with Liverpool, he threatens to be a further thorn in United’s side for years to come, and cause United to continue to regret failing to sign him.

United need to respond

The fee paid is some serious ambition from Liverpool, in their aim to break back into the top four.

Manchester United did not have the funds to get into the bidding war for Caicedo, or perhaps the willingness to re-address a monumental error.

United are set to cash in onFredandDonny van de Beek, and possiblyScott McTominaytoo. More reinforcements are needed in midfield.

A Ԁєɑł forSofyan Amrabatis expected. The Morocco midfielder would be a comparative bargain, and some may say, an even better player.
