In the єɴԀ, however,Los Blancoscouldsign only Joseluowing to their ρłɑɴ of signing Kylian Mbappe. The Spaniard linked up with the team earlier this week and will take part in the upcoming preseason tour.
The new signing spoke after the team’s training session earlier this week and opened up about a wide range of topics in his first detailed interview as aReal Madridplayer. He began with a brief account of his feelings about returning to his dream club.
“I face my return with a lot of joy. I’m remembering a lot of things I experienced here. Others are new, like colleagues, and I am adapting super fast. I am very happy to be here again.”
Joselu went on to elaborate on the high standards of training and the quality of players atReal Madrid, saying:
“We know the quality of these players and the level of each training. The intensity is maximum and we all want to win in the games. It is an immense joy to share the field with these top players.”
He then went on to speak about the stage of his career he is at and how he has matured over the years since leavingReal Madridover ten years ago.
“You have to enjoy life. I’m at a time in my career where I enjoy every minute and every second of what’s going on. I’m living a new experience 12 years later,”he said.
“I have matured a lot both personally and professionally. I have a family with children and I see life differently. When I left here I was a boy who fulfilled the dream of debuting withReal Madrid. Now I am a different player, with more experience and experiences that have allowed me to return.”
Despite formally leavingReal Madrid, Joselu added that he had been in touch with several players of the club and has even played with them for the Spanish National Team.
On his relationship with Dani Carvajal, Nacho Fernandez and Lucas Vazquez, the Castilla graduate said:
“Everything is easier with them. We have maintained the relationship since my departure and we have coincided in many moments; they are the ones who are making everything easier for me here. They teach me how this works and it’s very easy.
“Carvajal is special because he is part of my family and I live with him every day. Before I already had a very good relationship with him. Nacho has always been my captain and I have always passed it on to him. Outside I have always told him, that he has been my captain in Castilla.”
“Lucas is my favorite Galician. He is a boy with whom I have shared many moments. In the єɴԀ, the earth unites us and we always hesitate about it.”
The striker will travel with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad to the United States of America for the pre-season tour this week and emphasised that the overseas tour evoked many memories of his Castilla days.
“It’s a lot of memories. I remember when I signed for Castilla, that a month they told me that I had to do the tour with the team and it was something new for me. That is going to bring back a lot of memories now.”
“It is an incredible experience, we have very nice matches and that Madrid visits the United States will be very satisfying for the people there. I can’t wait for it to start.”
The former Espanyol star will be Ancelotti’s only option to cover the number 9 role in the coming season, and it is clear that he will have a big part to play in leading Real Madrid’s attack. Speaking about his interaction with the manager, he said,
“Ancelotti tells me to be myself. What I have done in recent years is what has bɾօυɢҺt me here. He has asked me to load the area as he is a reference striker. I’m adapting a little to the training, to the way the team plays and to my new teammates.”
Finally, the 33-year-old commented on theMerenguesbeing his dream club and his fortune to get a chance to return home.
“For me,Real Madridis the team of my life. I have always been fromReal Madridand I was lucky enough to make my debut in the First Division at the Santiago Bernabéu with this shirt.”
