Fernandes speaks on Maguire

Speaking onMUTVpost-game, Bruno discussed the position ex-captain Maguire finds himself in currently.

He said: “He congratulated me [on being elected new United captain] and he said he is really happy for me,

“I understand his position is not the best at the moment. It has to be difficult for him but he had a great [moment] with me.”

This will be welcome news to many who would hope the centre-back wouldn’t take it personally and crack on with the job at hand.

Bruno on his performance

Bruno was also asked about his performance and his thoughts on returning to action with a goal.

“It’s always important to score. It’s always important for your confidence. I’m really happy. The result was the best thing of today.”

A goal immediately on his pre-season return with obviously be a massive boost for our magician.

However, the win over a Premier League rivals and a side we are expecting to be challenging this season, is even better.
