Pink Gin VI made waves with its head-turning hot pink sails (hence the whimsical name) and engineering excellence – it was dubbed the world’s largest carbon composite sloop. Like most highly innovative and glamorous watercraft, it was the bespoke luxury toy of a German billionaire. The famous sailing superyacht is gearing up for a new chapter after recently changing hands.
Pink Gin VI, the second-largest vessel built by Baltic Yachts, has been one of the most successful luxury charter yachts in recent years. Launched in 2017, it instantly grabbed attention with its dynamic silhouette, majestic sails, and unexpectedly opulent interiors, even for a pleasure craft this size.
The original owner was a German billionaire and what they call a serial yacht owner. The beautiful and ultra-modern Pink Gin VI became the culmination of his lifelong experience with yachts and sailing. Designed by Judel/Vrolijk & co, and styled by the UK-based studio Design Unlimited, the 176-foot (54 meters) beast skillfully combined technical prowess with high-єɴԀ onboard amenities.
One of Pink Gin VI’s moststriking featuresis the owner’s private swim platform. The master suite (a masterpiece in itself) doesn’t come with a boring terrace but with a folding balcony that doubles as a swim platform and that can be activated with the simple touch of a button. Whenever the owner wants to spєɴԀ some time enjoying the water in privacy, the simple hydraulic mechanism opens a panel on the topside, which becomes a versatile balcony and swim platform.
The interior style onboard Pink Gin VI is absolutely stunning, featuring high-priced pieces of Cuban art, chandelier lighting, and sophisticated décor items. The custom-made furniture is covered in rare and exotic materials such as salmon skin or sealskin. The main salon reveals ultra-expensive, unexpected pieces, such as a pink Edelweiss Sygnet piano, Louis Vuitton trunks turned into furniture, and a table made of rare bog oak thousands of years old.
With a generous six-stateroom layout, this sophisticated sailing yacht can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests plus a large crew. Performance-wise, a single MAN engine takes it up to 12 knots (13.8 mph/22 kph).
Given its popularity with customer charters, it’s no surprise that the Pink Gin VI was kept in excellent shape thɾօυɢҺout the years, thanks to regular maintenance work and several refits. Last Fall, it made waves again on the market after announcing an unprecedented price drop of $15 million. Prior to that, it was asking for more than $45 million.
The price continued to drop until the famous pink-sailed yacht finally sold for €25,5 million ($27.7 million) – almost half the original price. The new owner is mysterious for now, but one thing’s for sure – he got his hands on the world’s biggest carbon composite sloop and one of the most sophisticatedsailing yachts.
