Inter Milan held talks with Arsenal about a potential move for Folarin Balogun as recently as Tuesday, with the striker keen to make the move to San Siro.
That is according to a ɾєρօɾτ fromGazzetta dello Sport, which claims that Arsenal want £34.5 million for the 22-year-old off the back of his brilliant loan spell at Reims last year.
Arsenal are ɾєρօɾτedly expectingFolarin Balogunto leave the Emirates before the summer transfer window shuts. And it seems that the two main players in the race for the ‘phenomenal‘ USMNT international are Monaco and Inter.
Inter in constant contact with Arsenal over Balogun
Gazzetta dello Sportis now ɾєρօɾτing that Nerazzurri are in constant contact with Arsenal about a move for Balogun. In fact, they spoke as recently as Tuesday.
Balogun is keen to move to Serie A and has informed the Arsenal hierarchy of that. But there is still a little way to go before the two clubs agree a fee.
Arsenal want €40 million for Balogun, while Inter have set aside around £30 million. They hope that Mikel Arteta’s men will be prepared to drop their asking price further to make a move happen.
Inter meanwhile, believe that Balogun could be worth more in the future. And obviously, they need to strengthen in the final third ahead of the new season.
It seems to be best for all parties for Arsenal to agree a Ԁєɑł for Balogun to move on. The Gunners have the depth to let the youngster go. And Balogun clearly feels that the time has come to find a club where he can play regularly.
Ultimately, a fee of over £30 million for someone who really is not yet proven in the Premier League seems like good business – at a time when Arsenal need to be looking at recouping some funds.
