Clement Lenglet was one of the players left out of theBarcelonasquad for the La Liga opener on Sunday night. The Frenchman has no place under Xavi Hernandez and has been at the exit door for a long time now.
According to ɾєρօɾτs fromSPORT,Barcelonaand Al Nassr will hold a meeting tomorrow over the central defєɴԀer’s transfer.
Needless to say, the objective will be to make solid progress towards his departure.
Al Nassr are willing to meet Barcelona’s asking price
TheBlaugranasspent a large part of the summer discussing Lenglet’s move with Tottenham Hotspur. The London-based side were interested in signing the defєɴԀer after his impressive loan spell.
Barcelona demanded a fee of €15 million for his transfer, but Spursrefused to budgeon their offer of €5 million. The Ԁєɑł eventually fell apart.
Al-Nassr arenow in the driver’s seatand are willing to meet the asking price from Catalonia. ɾєρօɾτs state that the Saudi Arabia-based side are willing to put up €10 million as a fixed fee with €5 million in variables for Lenglet.
A surplus resource
The 28-year-old signed for the Catalans in 2018 in a Ԁєɑł worth €35 million and even made a bright start to his career atBarcelona.
However, his trajectory soon took a nosedive and he never recovered his lost form and confidence.
TheBlaugranasnow have some of the world’s best defєɴԀers in Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen.
The trio equalled the league’s best-ever defensive numbers last season and have even started strong in the team’s 2023-24 season opener.
Considering that Xavi has Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez as backup options, there is no place for Lenglet under Xavi Hernandez. In fact, he played no part in the team’s pre-season campaign this summer.
While he was initially reluctant to leave for Saudi Arabia, the lack of options, coupled with Barcelona’s urgency to get him off the books, could єɴԀ up leading the Frenchman to Al Nassr.
