AsBarcelonastep up their efforts to bring in a new right-back this summer, the option of Real Valladolid defєɴԀer Ivan Fresneda appears to be gaining momentum within the club, ɾєρօɾτsSPORT.
However, the ɾєρօɾτ goes on to add thatBarcelonahave no intention of paying the 18-year-old starlet’s full release clause amount, which stands at €20 million.
It is obvious that a new right-back is a priority for the La Liga champions now that they have signed a pivot midfielder to replace Sergio Busquets.
The Catalans cannot go an entire season with Sergi Roberto as the option, especially with Jules Kounde no longer keen on playing at right-back and Julian Araujo likely to be loaned out.
As such, the option of Fresneda appears to be gaining weight within the offices at CanBarça.
Joao Cancelo of Manchester City remains a desired option but the Catalans might have to shell out €25 million in total (loan fee and salary) just to sign him on loan for a single season. And on top of that, given his high wages, hisregistration would also pose a challenge.
As such, Deco is not very keen on that move and now the name of Fresneda appears to be gaining integers, even though it was ɾєρօɾτed earlier this month that the 18-year-old defєɴԀerdoes not generate total consensus within the club.
Fresneda’s release clause amount with Real Valladolid stands at €20 million, having reduced from €40 million following their relegation from La Liga.
But, as mentioned earlier,Barcelonado not ρłɑɴ on paying that sum in order to sign the teenage defєɴԀer, who has just one season of top-flight football under his belt.
So, it remains to be seen if they are able to negotiate a lower fee with Real Valladolid. But theBlaugranamust act quickly as Fresneda is also attracting interest from clubs in the Premier League, who might be willing to match his release clause amount.
