Fati transfer blow
Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks with Barcelona over the transfer of Ansu Fati, according to Spanish outletEl Nacional. The rumour is a blow toArsenal, who are believed to be interested in signing Fati before the transfer window slams shut.
It’s claimedBarcelonaare considering a bid of €30million (£25.7m) plus €10m (£8.6m) in add-ons for Fati, totalling €40m (£34.3m). The Spain international, 20, is one of the most exciting young players in Europe but has struggled with injuries during his career.
Fati featured in just 10 games during the 2020/21 campaign and made only 15 appearances the following season. Yet it’s hoped the forward’s injuries woes are firmly behind him after he scored 10 goals in 51 games for Barcelona last season.
Barcelona manager Xavi recently said: “I’m happy with him (Fati), he is heritage of this club. I don’t know how I should say it. The market will dictate, and that is up until August 31st… I’m happy with him, he is a player for the present and the future.”
Tavares off to Forest?
Forest are interested in signing Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares, according to theEvening Standard. The former Benfica star, 23, hasn’t played for the Gunners in more than a year after spєɴԀing last season on loan at French side Marseille.
Tavares doesn’t appear to have a future at the Emirates and could leave before the єɴԀ of the month. Arsenal want around £22m for the Portuguese star, who has two years remaining on his contract, but are also willing to let him leave on loan.
Tierney told to leave
Speaking of left-backs, former Arsenal striker John Hartson has urged Kieran Tierney to leave the Emirates.Newcastleare among those interested in signing theScotlandinternational, 26, who didn’t make the bench for Arsenal’s win against Forest on Saturday.
Speaking toGo Radio, Hartson said: “I’m not surprised he (Tierney) is on the radar of several clubs, in particular a club that are going forward in the world in Newcastle… It hasn’t happened for him (at Arsenal), but he’s too good not to be playing every week.
“He was totally out of the fray at the weekєɴԀ, and wasn’t even a sub. Arsenal went on and won 2-1. I don’t know if he’s injured or had a knock, but maybe that relationship with the manager is not quite there.”
