Arsenal could be set to join Chelsea and Liverpool in a transfer race for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia as Thomas Partey ɾєρօɾτedly moves a step closer to leaving the club.

Arsenal are ɾєρօɾτedly preparing to enter the race for Southampton starlet Romeo Lavia as the Gunners continue their summer rebuild.

The 19-year-old has won admirers from several Premier League sides after his breakthɾօυɢҺ season at Southampton. Signed from Manchester City, Pep Guardiola’s side are claimed to have a £40million buy-back clause in his contract but it is said this will only become active next year.

This has led to interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea, who are targeting a new holding midfielder, but Arsenal could be set to rival the two clubs for the teenager. TheGunnersfinally welcomed record signing Declan Rice to the club on Saturday and he could be partnered with another new recruit, amid claims over Thomas Partey’s future.

TheDaily Expresshas stated, via ɾєρօɾτs in Saudi Arabia, that Partey has ‘agreed personal terms’ with an unnamed Saudi club. Arsenal stumped up the £45million release clause to sign the 30-year-old from Atletico Madrid, back in 2020, and the Ghanaian still has two years remaining on his current Ԁєɑł.

football.londonunderstands that Arsenal would bewilling to sell Partey for a considerable fee, having already allowed Granit Xhaka to join Bayer Leverkusen for £21.5million. The Daily Express explains that Partey’s exit would allow the Gunners to ‘enter the race’ for Lavia.

The Belgian is thought to be valued at £50million by Southampton, who signed him last summer for a fee that could rise to £14million, while the club will be hoping to make an immediate return to the top-flight. Lavia’s rise has been meteoric, having made just two appearances for Man City before becoming a breakout star for Southampton, featuring 34 times at the base of midfield.
