The 22-year-old made his debut for theGunnersin October 2020 but truly rose to prominence last season during his loan spell at Stade Reims.Balogunrecorded 22 goals in 39 appearances, putting the USA international on the radar of several clubs thɾօυɢҺout Europe.
Balogun’s desire for regular minutes has placed serious doubts over his future in north London, with Mikel Arteta able to call upon Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz in Gabriel Jesus’ absence. Arsenal have ɾєρօɾτedly placed a £50million valuation on the striker and Monaco were claimed to have seen their opening offer of around £36million rєjєƈτed last week.
TheDaily Mailhas stated that Monaco are expected to submit an ‘improved offer’ for Balogun in their efforts to bring him back to Ligue 1 after identifying the Arsenal striker as one of their top transfer targets. It is said that Arsenal’s sporting director Edu Gaspar and his Monaco counterpart Thiago Scuro have continued to hold discussions as the pair search for a ‘compromise’ that would lead to an agreement between the two clubs.
Balogun has entered the final two years of his Arsenal contract, scoring twice in his 10 appearances for the Gunners. The USMNT star joined the Gunners aged eight but has remarkably emerged as a potential target for Tottenham Hotspur.
In Spurs’ search for a Harry Kane replacement, Italian outletLa Gazzetta Dello Sporthas claimed that Balogun is among the contєɴԀers to fill their striker void. Meanwhile, Inter Milan were previously thought to be chasing a move for the striker but are said to have withdrawn from the battle for Balogun’s signature due to Arsenal sticking to their asking price.
