However, the ɾєρօɾτ states that Chelsea are eager to pay a higher fee for Caicedo, although they won’t be involved in Europe next season.

Liverpool also have an interest in the 21-year-old, although he is not considered a priority for Jurgen Klopp’s side at present.

It is widely expected that Caicedo will be allowed to leave Brighton this summerafter a proposed move to Arsenal for £70m failed to materialise in January.

Arsenal are determined to add to their options in midfield, especially with Granit Xhaka set to join Bayer Leverkusen.

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is a key target for the Gunners and they have also been heavily linked with Caicedo, who has produced some excellent performances for Brighton.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are ρłɑɴning for a significant rebuild under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

With the Blues having an extremely large squad it is likely that there will be some high-profile departures from Stamford Bridge as well as some major new arrivals.

Caicedo has made 51 appearances for Brighton since joining the club in February 2021.
