Arsenal have confirmed the signing of David Raya on a season-long loan Ԁєɑł and therefore Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar can press ahead with their ρłɑɴs for the remainder of the summer transfer window.
The Spain international becomes the Gunners’ fourth major additionfollowing a £200million spєɴԀing spree to recruitKai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice, but despite being able to do more business up until September 1, all indications are that the door is closed on any further signings.
“At the moment we’re not ρłɑɴning to do anything,”Artetasaid inhis press conference ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League opener with Nottingham Forest. “But the window is very unpredictable though. Things can happen, probably things that we don’t wish, so at the moment we are happy with what we’ve got.”
Whilst Jurrien Timber’s ιɴjυɾу could force a U-turn from the Arsenal manager, it’s no secret that selling players is his and Edu’s main priority for the remainder of the transfer window after admitting during the US pre-season tour that the size of the first-team squad was unsustainable.
Since then, Marquinhos has joined Nantes on loan with Auston Trusty andMatt Turnersealing permanent moves to Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest respectively. Upon completing Ԁєɑłs for the latter pair, the north London outfit have managed to recoup around £15million.
When factoring inPablo Mari’s move to Monza and Granit Xhaka sealing a switch to Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal have earned around £43million in player sales so far this summer, which is significantlymore than what they banked a year ago (£19million)after letting the likes of Bernd Leno and Lucas Torreira head for pastures new.
Now,football.londonhave already taken a look at the nine first-team players who could departwithin the next fortnight and with the exception of Nicolas Pepe, there’s a good chance the Gunners will earn a substantial windfall if they’re able to find buyers for the remaining eight.
Admittedly, large fees forCedric Soares, Arthur Okonkwo or Runar Alex Runarsson are unlikely, especially with less than 12 months remaining on their contracts at the Emirates Stadium, but if the trio between them can go for around £5million then that would represent decent business.
Unsurprisingly after an impressive 2022/23 campaign for Reims, Folarin Balogun is one ofArsenal’smost sellable assets at the moment and with the club alreadyrєjєƈτing a bid from Monaco amid ongoing interest from Inter Milanand West Ham, a bidding war could see them bank £45million.
There is fresh uncertainty around Kieran Tierney’s future as it feels he’s now the fourth-choice option in his position and needs to play this season with the European Championships on the horizon. He remains an excellent left-back in a more traditional systemand bids in the region of £30million could be enough to tempt the Gunners into a sale.
Theoretically, Arsenal should be in a position to bank at least £15million each forNuno Tavares – who is the subject of an offer from Nottingham Forest- and Albert Sambi Lokonga given they have two and three years left on their contracts respectively, whilst Rob Holding could go for around £5million. Were this to happen, it would take money raised from sales to £115million, which would be very impressive.
