Jaeger-LeCoultre is hosting the Sound Maker exhibition in New York from September 21st thɾօυɢҺ October 5th to celebrate its rich legacy in chiming timepieces and some of its most important minute repeater complications. To mark the occasion, the watchmaker has presented a newlimited editionversion of its chiming Reverso – the Reverso Minute Repeater Tribute. The brand’s expertise in chiming timepieces and the incredible story of the Reverso have both defined La Grande Maison and these two stunning themes come together in the most impactful fashion in the Reverso Minute Repeater Tribute.
It was in 1994 whenJaeger-LeCoultremade the first chiming Reverso timepiece called the Reverso Répétition Minutes. It was from the era when JLC was redeveloping its expertise in high complications and Maison had succeeded in miniaturizing a minute repeater for a wristwatch. It was also the world’s first rectangular minute repeater movement. Almost three decades later, the new Reverso Minute Repeater Tribute pays homage to that incredible timepiece with its timeless design and incredibly complicated movement.
The Reverso Tribute Minute Repeater presents a fresh visual interpretation of the iconic Reverso theme. Both the dials display the same time but have very different personalities. While one of the dials is characterized by exuberance, the other has a more sober appeal. The front dial is entirely skeletonized, revealing the complex working of the minute repeater. On the other hand, the Reverso dial accentuates and amplifies the straight lines. Vertical Côtes de Genève stripes extєɴԀ over the entire height of the main plate, which also serves as the dial. The Reverso Répétition Minutes is powered by a revised, improved version of the brand’s in-house caliber 944 movement that offers a power reserve of 35 hours. Even the slider that activates the chimes has been specially designed for the new Reverso Tribute Minute Repeater. The timepiece is limited to just 10 examples and priced at €250,000 (about $290,000).
