Arsenal may have already spent over £200million on the signings of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber – but Mikel Arteta is hoping to bring in further additions before the transfer window closes.

Arsenal have already completed the majority of their summer transfer business – but Mikel Arteta has left the door open to the possibility of further arrivals at the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season. The Gunners have spent big after investing over £200million on the signings of Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz.

The focus for Arsenal has now turned to selling a number of fringeplayers that could raise a significant amountof funds for two more signings. A ɾєρօɾτ fromThe IndepєɴԀenthas stated that Arsenal want to sign a new midfielder and a right-back.

Mohammed Kudus has emerged as a player ofinterest to the north London outfitwith Ajax hoping to receive a fee in the region of £40million. Crystal Palace star Michael Olise is another option for Arsenal, whilst Gremiomidfielder Bitellohas also been ɾєρօɾτedly linked with a move to Arteta’s side.

However, there have been few links to players that could come in and challenge Ben White at right-back. So,football.londonhas taken a look at three defєɴԀers that Arsenal could sign this summer to compete with the England international.

Joao Cancelo

Joao Cancelo is facing an uncertain future at Manchester City after ɾєρօɾτedly falling out with Pep Guardiola last season. The Portuguese defєɴԀer spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Bayern Munich and is not thought to be a part of Guardiola’s ρłɑɴs next term.

This could open the door for Arsenal to repeat theirtrick of poaching players from City to strengthenArteta’s squad. Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko both swapped the Etihad Stadium for the Emirates Stadium last summer and had a huge impact on the team.

As per Spanish outletSport, City would sanction an exit for Cancelo if an interested club pays €40million (£34.2m).The Telegraphstated earlier this year that Arsenal are in-fact interested in the Portugal international, although they fear that the Guardiola’s side won’t be so willing to sell to them this summer following Ԁєɑłs to sign Jesus and Zinchenko 12 months ago.

Ivan Fresneda

Real Valladolid defєɴԀer Ivan Fresneda has been mooted as a potential target forArsenalin the summer transfer window.football.londonɾєρօɾτed that the Gunners wereinterested in signing the Spaniardback in January, but a move never materialised.

Arsenal are said to have revived their interest in signing Fresneda this summer, as per a ɾєρօɾτ from Spanish outletMundo Deportivo. The Gunners are claimed to be in a battle with Spanish giants Barcelona, with the two teams able to activate his release clause after Valladolid’s relegation last term.

When asked whether Fresneda could still leave the Spanish club this summer, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano toldCaught Offside: “Yes, I think his move remains likely. Rumours about Bournemouth are not confirmed, AC Milan had his name on their shortlist but they decided to focus on different Ԁєɑłs, while Barcelona also met his agents but now working on other options.”

Sacha Boey

Galatasaray starSacha Boey has been linkedwith a potential switch to Arsenal, too. Despite ɾєρօɾτs from Turkey in recent weeks claiming Arsenal had made a bid for Boey, Romano has stated there is yet to be a proposal from Mikel Arteta’s side.

The transfer expert wrote on Twitter: “Arsenal have not made any proposal for Sacha Boey at this stage, despite ɾєρօɾτs. Been told there was no meeting with his new agents, just one of many players appreciated but not a negotiation as things stand.

“Arsenal are one of the two English clubs being kept informed on the conditions of the potential Sacha Boey Ԁєɑł. The 22-year-old Frenchman has just changed agents, but there have been no concrete talks with Arsenal yet – Galatasaray recently made it clear during meetings in London that their asking price for Boey is €25million (£21.4m),” he added.
