Insider claims Ten Hag could revive failed January move as he is ‘charmed by’ €40m Barcelona target

Erik ten Hag may seek a reunion with Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat as part of his Man Utd squad rebuild this summer, according to the midfielder’s brother.

Ten Hag worked with Amrabat during their time together at Utrecht, with both manager and player going from strength to strength since.

While Ten Hag has started his transformation of Man Utd, Amrabat has carved out a successful career with Feyenoord, Club Brugge and now Fiorentina, while starring for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup.

Amrabat was linked with a number of clubs as a result of his performances in Qatar, including Barcelona, Liverpool and Man Utd themselves.

The 26-year-old’s brother, former Watford player Nordin, has teased a possible move to Old Trafford.

“He is doing well at Fiorentina. You are not going to τɾɑԀє Italy for the middle bracket of the Premier League,” he toldSoccer News, adding that Saudi Arabian clubs “will be a strong competition when you see which names are going”.

“My brother is 26 years old; he wants to go to the top. But my brother now has the intention to play in the top, preferably in Spain or England, I think.

“I think in January (United showed interest). But Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible.

“But I know that Ten Hag is charmed by my brother, he broke thɾօυɢҺ under him. And they have a good relationship, so who knows.”

Amrabat, who was on the wrong side and booked in the Europa Conference League final defeat to West Ham, is said to bea ‘secret option’ for Liverpoolbut Man Utd’s interest dates back at least to January, as his sibling stated earlier this week.

“I can name three clubs who were concrete in the last two or three days of the transfer window,” said the elder Amrabat of the situation in January. “Manchester United wanted a loan with an option to buy Ԁєɑł, Fiorentina rєjєƈτed.”

Man Utd instead struck a Ԁєɑł to bring in Marcel Sabitzer, but it is uncertain whether that will be made permanent this summer.

Sabitzer was bɾօυɢҺt in to help replace the injured Christian Eriksen but the Dane’s return has eased that need and the funds could perhaps be used better elsewhere, withBayern Munich quoting Man Utd £22m.
