Back in November, it was made public that offers would be welcomed byUnited’sowners – who took full control of the club in 2005 after buying initial shares two years prior. Now, there is the opportunity for someone else to take on the Premier League giants – as Erik ten Hag looks to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.

The two people battling it out to buy United are Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, with Finnish billionaire Thomas Zilliacushaving withdrawnfrom the process in April. The asking price from the Glazers has been ɾєρօɾτed at £6billion – a figure which nobody is yet to meet. Of the family, brothers Joel and Avram are said to be keen on staying involved with United.

American investor bank, Raine Group, will oversee the sale process, once a preferred bidder is chosen by the Glazers. Raine will assess all of the bids, assist the American family thɾօυɢҺout and then enter final talks with the chosen buyer – alongside the Glazers. Raine were involved in Todd Boehly’s takeover of Chelsea last year.

The INEOS chairman and CEO wants to buy the Glazer’s 69 per cent of United and has made a £5bn offer. The sports division of Ratcliffe’s petrochemical company is claimed to be in talks with United officials directly – which has portrayed INEOS as the front runners thɾօυɢҺout the process.

The Qatari banker is looking to buy 100 per cent of Man United, via his Nine Two Foundation. He has made a promise to wipe United of all current debt – ɾєρօɾτed at £500m. His bids are claimed to be greater than Ratcliffe’s, with Jassimsubmitting a ‘fifth and final’ bidwhich has a Friday deadline.
