NewBayern Munichboss Thomas Tuchel didn’t exactly warm to journalists during his time in England – and it seems little has changed back in his native Germany.
Sunday should have represented a day of content with Tuchel, after Bayern brushed aside Augsburg 3-1 to make it two Bundesliga wins from two. And new signingHarry Kaneagain impressed by scoring twice, taking his tally to three for the league campaign.
But Tuchel is still expected to be busy this week in the transfer market, with midfielder Ryan Gravenberch being linked with a move to England. DefєɴԀer Benjamin Pavard was also left out of the squad this weekєɴԀ amid a request to be allowed to join Inter Milan.
However, the formerChelseaboss is also targeting incomings, particularly in midfield. And the German champions have been strongly linked with a move for United’s Scott McTominay,with a swap loan Ԁєɑł involving Gravenberch ɾєρօɾτedly on the cards.
But pressed by a journalist over the necessity to sign a “holding six” this week, Tuchel reacted by accusing his interviewer of stirring the rumour mill: “You pour oil on thefirewhere there is no fire. I see no problem,” he said. “We have three sixes and we have a long season ahead of us.”
A frosty conversation followed, with the journalist reminding the 49-year-old of his pre-game declaration that he would have to fill his midfield with under-23 players if no new signings were made. He had also insinuated he only had three first-team players in that department to currently choose from.
“We only have three midfielders at the moment,” he reiterated, before the journalist asked: “Will that be discussed again?” It prompted another fiery reply from the 2020Champions Leaguewinning boss.

“You’re discussing all the time. I have no new information. I’ve said something about that several times,” he argued, and when pressed further he asked back: “What’s the problem with the ȿτɑτємєɴτ that we currently have three sixes?”
And notably, when asked: “Is there a type of player that you still want?”, Tuchel gave zero indication that he was interested in McTominay. He did however, eventually concede that the situation represented a problem if injuries were to become an issue.
The Scottish international is widely expected to leave Old Trafford before Friday’s 11pm deadline, with Erik ten Hag needing to sell before he can buy again.West Hamhave already had a bid for the player turned down, but are still weighing-up the possibility of a double-swoop for the 26-year-old andHarry Maguire.
