Mаn ᴜtd trаnѕfer ‘off’ аѕ £30m Mаgᴜіre ‘never аgreed’ Weѕt һаm deаl; Ten һаg’ѕ ѕtаnce іѕ mаde cleаr

According to ɾєρօɾτs, Harry Maguire’s proposed move from Manchester United to West Ham United is now ‘off’ and he ‘remains settled’ at Old Trafford.

Maguire slipped down the pecking order last season as Erik ten Hag preferred to select Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw at centre-back.

The former United captain arguably needs to leave the Premier League giants to give himself a better chance of playing regularly ahead of next year’s European Championships and he has been pursued by West Ham.

The Hammers had a couple of bids rєjєƈτed for the 30-year-old before they agreed a £30m Ԁєɑł with Man Utd.

It has been six days since this fee was agreed between the two clubs but talks have slowed down over the past week.

On Tuesday morning,The Guardian’s Jacob SteinbergɾєⱱєɑłєԀ that this transfer ‘has collapsed after West Ham grew tired of waiting for the defєɴԀer to agree his exit’.

Steinberg added: ‘West Ham have grown fɾυȿτɾɑted over the delay and are looking at alternative options in central defence. Maguire had settled personal terms with West Ham but the club have been waiting for the England international to agree a pay-off from United.

‘The 30-year-old received a considerable salary increase as a result of United qualifying for the Champions League and would be on less money at West Ham. He is thought to want about £7m to leave Old Trafford.’

This ɾєρօɾτ has since beenbacked up bySky Sports, who confirm that this transfer ‘is off’. It is said that an exit ‘this late in the window would have left Man Utd with little time to bring in a replacement’.

Ten Hag’s stance is that he sees Maguire as ‘an important part of the squad and he is happy for him to stay and fight for his place’.

A ‘source close to the player’ told Sky Sports News: “Harry respects West Ham and David Moyes, but to be clear there was never an agreement in place between Harry and West Ham.

“The process was less advanced than portrayed in the media. For example, at no point has Harry spoken to David Moyes.

“Harry remains settled at United, loves the club and believes he will get plenty of opportunities to play this season.”

The Athletic’s David Ornsteinmeanwhile has stated that ‘the transfer had stalled due to the terms of the 30-year-old’s exit being negotiated’ and Maguire ‘will now not be joining West Ham’.
