The Catalans are eyeing a number of players that are suited to play in this position, and Juan Foyth has been one of the candidates shortlisted.

Villarreal unwilling to negotiate for Foyth

AlthoughBarçahave set their sights on the Argentine World Cup winner, with Xavi particularly holding him in high regard, theBlaugranasare bound to face ample difficulties in the event they pursue his signing.

According toAS, Villarreal have essentially closed the door on any negotiations for Foyth this summer.

Earlier today, it was ɾєρօɾτed that the 25-year-old hadinformed the Yellow Submarine that the wants to leave the club for Barcelona.

Following that, there was an expectation that Villarreal could leave some room to negotiate, but that has not been the case.

As per the ɾєρօɾτ, Foyth’s release clause stands at €40 million currently and will rise up to €54 million during the last week of the transfer window. And Villarreal have absolutely no intention of negotiating a lower fee.

After bidding farewell to a number of important figures of the club such as Pau Torres, Nicolas Jackson, and Samu Chukwueze, the Yellow Submarine claim that they have already made enough sales and are not interested in sanctioning additional departures.

Consequently, the only way Foyth may quit his side and join forces withBarcelonais if the Catalan club pay his termination clause, which is worth €40 million, and €54 million in the final week of the transfer window.

Owing to the sticky financial stateBarcelonafind themselves in, activating Foyth’s release clause will take a huge toll on the club’s finances.

Barcelona are thus expected to monitor the Argentine’s situation and hope for a change in Villarreal’s stance. If not, they would need to make a gargantuan effort to sign the former Tottenham man.

The La Liga champions have listed several other candidates, which involve the likes of Ivan Fresneda, Joao Cancelo, and Pablo Maffeo.
