Arsenal transfer news: Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of goalkeeper Matt Turner is expected to be the green light for the Gunners to pursue a move for David Raya.

Arsenalgoalkeeper Matt Turner is edging closer to securing a move to Premier League side Nottingham Forest after an agreement was reached.

The USMNT star only joined the Gunners last summer, becoming Mikel Arteta’s second-choice goalkeeper behind Aaron Ramsdale. Turner made only seven appearances in all competitions in his first season in England – all coming in cup competitions.

His future in north London had never seemed to be in doubt ahead of the summer transfer window. However,Arsenal’s interest in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has resulted in him seeking a new challenge.

Forest’s interest in Turner emerged last week. The Premier League outfit are desperate for a new No.1 after Dean HєɴԀerson and Keylor Navas returned to their parent clubs at the єɴԀ of their loan spell.

Steve Cooper’s side remain interested in HєɴԀerson, but it now seems the Reds will make Turner their new first-choice goalkeeper. According toThe Athletic, Forest have reached an agreement to sign Turner and have scheduled the 29-year-old to undergo his medical later today (Monday).

The Ԁєɑł is likely to hand Arsenal the free pass to push ahead with their move for Raya. An opening bid for the Spain international has already been turned down by Brentford, though talks are expected to continue this week.

The Bees had initially demanded £40million forRaya, but ɾєρօɾτs over the weekєɴԀ indicated that they could lower their demand and accept as low as £30million – £7million more than Arsenal’s opening bid of £23million.

There’s a real belief that Raya will join the club to add quality competition to Ramsdale. A picture on social media surfaced on Sunday night of Raya at Wembley watching the Gunners’ Community Shield win over Man City.

The 27-year-old looked to be pictured with Brentford teammate Vitaly Janelt. Turner’s imminent exit to Forest is set to play a key factor in Raya’s arrival.
