The Fancy Intense Yellow and White Diamond Ring will be coming up for auction on 7th December, 2017.The 43.59 carat radiant-cut VS2 diamond isset between two white tapered diamond shoulders at 1.62 carats in total. This significant yellow diamond is the centre piece of an exquisite ring created by Graff Diamonds and is estimated at between £900 000 and £1.4million.

To put the ring into context, the 33.19-carat Asscher-cut D color potentially flawless “Elizabeth Taylor Diamond” ring that Taylor wore nearly every day sold for $8.8 million in 2011 at Christie’s, smashing the $2.5 million to $3.5 million estimate.

Yellow diamonds get their extraordinary fiery colour from the inclusion of nitrogen atoms during their creation, over a billion years ago. Laurence Graff is credited with generating the surge in their popularity in the 1970’s. Graff Diamonds is one of the world’s best cutters and polishers of yellow diamonds, which often need to be cut differently to whites in order to ensure their magnificence.

For 141 yearsFellowshas been one of the UK’sprominent auctioneers. Having first started as pawnbrokers in the early 19th century in the West Midlands, they became an auction house in 1876, the family business then successfully established their jewellery auctions, most particularly selling items that belonged to wealthy Russians who had escaped the 1917 Russian Revolution. Now Fellows holds over 50 watch and jewellery auctions annually and have included items such as two Rolex ”Paul Newman” Daytona watches and jewelry with royal provenance.
