Arsenal transfer news: Albert Sambi Lokonga could be set for a move away from Emirates Stadium either on a season-long loan or permanent Ԁєɑł.

Mikel Arteta and Edu are facing a very important Arsenal decision regarding the future of Albert Sambi Lokonga. The Belgium international has struggled to earn a consistent spot in the Gunners squad since his transfer from Anderlecht in 2021 and is now being linked with a move away.

In January, Lokonga joined Crystal Palace on loan and made nine Premier League appearances with pre-season being another chance for Lokonga to impress. However,a minor muscular ιɴjυɾу saw him miss the USA tourwith his status in the group lessening following the midfield acquisitions of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.

Jorginho, who was signed by Arsenal in the same window Lokonga sealed a temporary departure, is another name likely to be ahead of the 23-year-old in the pecking order. Therefore, another exit is an expected outcome with Burnley in talks to bring Lokonga to Turf Moor.

According toBelgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, negotiations are advancing over a season-long loan which may also include a buy option if Lokonga makes a certain amount of appearances. The exact price of that clause is unknown but it is likely going to be less than the £15million Arsenal paid Anderlecht for Lokonga.

Lokonga had shown some desire to seal a move to Spain but Burnley is now seen as the most concrete option and it will also see him reunite with his former head coach Vincent Kompany. Lokonga not being part of Arsenal’s squad for the 2023/24 season is hardly surprising but the important decision arrives for Edu with the buy option clause.

Arsenal have faced transfer regrets in the past with former signings going on to enjoy great success elsewhere and the Gunners will want to avoid that outcome.

Including a buyback clause is therefore another option, but Lokonga has not shown enough promise for that to be a major consideration in north London and therefore he could have played his final games for Arsenal if the transfer to Burnley goes thɾօυɢҺ.
