According to ɾєρօɾτs, Man Utd have ‘rєjєƈτed’ a £20m bid from Premier League rivals West Ham United for England international Harry Maguire.

The defєɴԀer was always likely to leave Man Utd this summer as he barely featured under Erik ten Hag last season.

Following the arrival of Lisandro Martinez, the Dutch head coach preferred to use the Argentina international and Raphael Varane at centre-back when he had a fully fit squad to choose from.

Natural left-back Luke Shaw was even preferred over Maguire at times last season so the centre-back needs to leave to give himself a better chance of getting regular game time ahead of next summer’s European Championships.

Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Maguire in recent months but West Ham seem to be the club most interested in the Englishman at the moment.

The Hammers – who are also keen to sign Scott McTominay –failed with a loan bid for Maguire earlier this summerand Man Utd have now rєjєƈτed a second offer from their Premier League rivals.

It is ɾєρօɾτedly now ‘doubtful whether they will keep pushing given the size of his salary and also unclear if he would be keen to make the move’.

Former United striker Teddy Sheringham claimed earlier this week that he “would have left” the club last season if he was Maguire.

“If I was in Harry Maguire’s, I would have been looking to leave last summer,” Sheringham told Lord Ping.

“There were times last season where Maguire wasn’t even United’s third choice centre half. If that was me, then I would have left.

“I would want to be playing week-in, week-out at this stage of my career. Whoever Maguire decides to join, if he does move on, which I think he should, they will be getting a great player.

“I’m surprised that nobody has come in for him yet; that no one has snapped him up. Maguire has taken a lot of stick from a lot of people over the years, but at United, I feel he hasn’t been used in the right way and has been exposed by some of the players around him.

“I think he’s been hung out to dry at the club in many ways. A fresh start will be the best option for the player, and, as I said, whoever gets him will be signing a top player.”
