Now,SPORTis ɾєρօɾτing thatBarcelonaare ready to press ahead with the operation to sign Fresneda and working out formulas to sign him in a feasible Ԁєɑł.
The transfer had been put on hold as the Catalan giants did not have margin to register him in case he was signed.
But with the €60 million injection set to arrive from the resale of 16% stake inBarçaStudios, ‘Operation Fresneda’ is back on again.
Indeed, the club’s sporting staff has decided that they will move for the 18-year-old prospect and have re-established contact with Valladolid to negotiate his signing.
Barcelona unwilling to match Fresneda’s release clause
Fresneda has a release clause worth €20 million in his contract with Real Valladolid, and thePucelahave toldBarcelonato meet that value.
However, the La Liga champions have no intention of paying that amount as they do not wish to spєɴԀ so much on a player who is seen more as a bet for the future.
Instead,Barçaare hoping to convince Valladolid to accept an offer that would be lesser than the €20 million release clause but could benefit the relegated club right now and in the future.
With that in mind, the Catalans would be willing to offer a fixed fee of €10 million plus performance-related variables to take the total cost of the operation close to Fresneda’s release clause amount.
At this point, there has been no concrete movement, but things could pick up over the next week, especially with Fresneda also fielding interest from several clubs across Europe.
