After a general interview after training yesterday, newly-namedBarcelonacaptain Sergi Roberto spoke to the media again today to touch upon the objectives for next season and the challenges that playing away from Spotify Camp Nou could pose.
The Spaniard also reiterated his pride at being picked as the club captain. He now becomes the sixth Catalan captain for the club in the 21st century, succeeding Pep Guardiola, Sergi Barjuan, Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernández and Sergio Busquets.
The 31-year-old spoke toCAT Radio program Tot Costaahead of Barcelona’s pre-season game against Arsenal, where he could don the armband as first-choice skipper for the first time.
On captaincy:”Being captain of the first team will always be something I’m proud of. I was already a leader in the youth teams and also inBarcelonaB, but to be able to be captain of the first team is something bigger.”
