Arsenal have had a successful summer transfer window so far after signing Kai Havertz from Chelsea, Declan Rice from West Ham and Jurrien Timber from Ajax.

Arsenal have already spent over £200million in the summer transfer window – but their business is not over yet. Mikel Arteta has added Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber to his squad ahead of next season with the Gunners now focusing on raising more funds thɾօυɢҺ player sales.

Arsenal have evolved into Premier League titlechallengers under Arteta since the Spaniardtook over from Unai Emery in 2019. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have become crucial players for the Gunners, whilst William Saliba’s return to the squad has elevated the team above the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United as Manchester City’s main competitors in the Premier League.

Whilst rival clubs will improve this summer,Arteta has created a culture and laid a foundationthat can help the Gunners continue to develop and challenge for trophies on a consistent basis. Arsenal are set to return to the Champions League next term after finishing second in the Premier League last season, but their transfer business has shown they are aiming to try and close the gap to City.

The ȿτɑτємєɴτ signing of Rice this summer proves that the north Londoners have huge ambitions under Arteta. It also highlights just how highly-rated Arteta is as a manager with the England international explaining that the Arsenal boss was a huge ɾєɑȿօɴ why he wanted to join the Gunners.

In a recent interview, Rice said: “The first moment that I walked in the training ground. Not only the manager, the staff – their mindset and mentality is about winning – Mikel really makes you want to play for him.”

Arsenal have made sure to focus their transfer strategy on signing players with the right mentality that fits in with the culture Arteta has created at the club. Sporting director Edu Gaspar is fully aware of this and has worked with the Gunners boss in ρłɑɴning which player to pursue in the transfer market – with a view to help continue the progression of the club.

Speaking toThe Gooners Podcast, the Arsenal sporting director said: “You have to be extremely careful who you bring in – it’s not just about talent. If you bring in someone with the wrong mentality, it destroys everything we are building.”

It’s clear from Edu’s comments that he is on the same wavelength as Arteta when it comes to transfers and that Arsenal will only move for players they feel can fit in with the club’s culture and help them close the gap to City.
