Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to retain top spot next season after completing a treble last term. Man City have snapped up Mateo Kovacic as they bid farewell to Ilkay Gundogan, while Riyad Mahrez also looks set to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
It has also been ɾєρօɾτed that the Premier League champions have agreed a Ԁєɑł for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol. Fabrizio Romano has stated that the 21-year-old is ‘on the cusp’ of completing his move after undergoing the first part of his medical. Leipzig are said to have been demanding at least €100million (£86.7million) for the Croatia international, a world-record fee for a defєɴԀer.
This may lead to growing speculation over Aymeric Laporte’s future, who is claimed to have attracted interest from both Arsenal and Spurs this summer. The Spain international saw his playing time reduced to just 20 starts across all competitions, with Man City already having Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and John Stones as centre-back options, prior to the arrival of Gvardiol.
ɾєρօɾτs have claimed that Man City value Laporte in the region of £25million. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta worked with Laporte during his time as part of Guardiola’s coaching staff. Reflecting on his time working with the former Gunners skipper,Laporte gave a glowing review of their time together, back in 2020.
“Mikel is a great coach and, for me, he has been one of the best people I have met in Manchester. He tries to help players all the time, he had a really good relationship with everyone and with me especially.”
