Arsenal news: The Gunners will look more than prepared for the 2023/24 season if Declan Rice is joined by a perfect £40m Mikel Arteta signing.
Mikel Arteta could have a Manchester City-level squad for Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest. Pep Guardiola has been able to dominate English football over the last few years with a squad that is brimming with talent and now the Gunners could have their own group of players to challenge that control.
Last season, issues with squad depth ultimately cost the Gunners in the Premier League title race against Man City, but those problems do not appear prominent anymore. Kai Havertz has already joined the Gunners from Chelsea and Jurrien Timber’s arrival was also confirmed on Friday in a £34.2million Ԁєɑł with add-ons that could see the fee paid rise to £38.5million.
Regarding Declan Rice, football.londonunderstands thatArsenal are hoping to announce the move before they travel to the USA for their pre-season tour, with the Ԁєɑł all but done. The addition of that trio will offer Arteta significant options all across the pitch as the club also prepare to embark on their Champions League adventure alongside once again pushing for the title.
Further incomings could still be completed with Sky Sports ɾєρօɾτer Dharmesh Sheth, viaThe Boot Room, saying: “The right-sided attacking position, that is something I think Arsenal, will be trying to look at. They have been focusing on that position in the past couple of transfer windows so maybe just keep an eye on that.”
Sheth also said: “And maybe keep an eye on the central midfield position. I know Rice is on the verge of coming in but Xhaka has left as well and if Thomas Partey was to leave, there is a lot of interest in him, which is just at an interest stage, but if that was to develop Arsenal could look into recruiting potentially in there as well.”
With over £200million spent this summer, Arteta could seal one transfer that fits both of those profiles with a perfect target looking likely to leave his current club. Ajax star Mohamed Kudus can star as a winger and central midfielder and with the Dutch giants expected to sell this summer, Arteta and Edu could take advantage of a huge opportunity.
Kudus’ agent Jennifer MєɴԀelewitsch delivered a huge update on the Ghana international earlier this year. As quoted by Dutch publicationDe Telegraaf, she said: “I think it is best for both Ajax and Mohammed that he makes a transfer now.
“Now is the right time. He has ignored a proposal to extєɴԀ his contract until the summer of 2026. What I can say is that after the World Cup and this season there is a lot of interest.”The AthleticɾєⱱєɑłєԀ recently that Kudus had also rєjєƈτed a one-year extension offer.
With Reiss Nelson seen as a better option off the left after Leandro Trossard played centrally against Nurnberg, Arsenal are in need of a back-up option to Bukayo Saka while also proving cover for the midfield three and Kudus can be that man. If the transfer is completed, Arteta could have the perfect squad at his disposal with several key first-team stars, such as Jorginho, Emile Smith Rowe and Takehiro Tomiyasu having to fight just to get into the matchday squad.
