Indeed, according to a ɾєρօɾτ from JournalistStalin Cobena,Barcelonahold a ‘real interest’ in LDU Quito defensive midfielder Oscar Zambrano and talks are expected to take place over a possible transfer in the coming days.
The 19-year-old Ecuadorian prospect made his first-team debut for his club last year and has since gone on to make 29 appearances, in which he has scored a goal.
Zambrano has also featured 14 times for the Ecuador U-20 national team since breaking into the team in June last year.
A talented defensive midfielder with good passing range, Zambrano has seemingly popped up on the radars ofBarcelona, with his club, LDU Quito waiting for a firm proposal from the La Liga champions for the youngster.
Apart from a transfer fee, the South American outfit will also seek a percentage of future sales.
It is not specified in the ɾєρօɾτ whetherBarcelonawant to sign Zambrano for their first team or the subsidiary side. Although chances are that the Ecuadorian prospect will spєɴԀ time withBarçaAtletic before moving up the ranks if he does join the club.
The 19-year-old is not the only South American midfield enforcer linked with the Catalans, with the club also being interested in Liverpool Montevideo’s Uruguayan prodigy Fabricio Diaz, although they are reluctant to pay the€8 million fee for the youngster.
