Arsenal take on Nurnberg in Germany on Thursday, with summer signing Kai Havertz hoping to make his first appearance for the Gunners.

Arsenalhave wasted no time during the first month of the summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s side finished second in last season’s Premier League title race, єɴԀing up five points behind eventual champions Manchester City. So the goal this summer has been clear: close the gap on the treble-winners.

Of course, that is no easy task but some clever recruiting in the transfer market has helped them start to do just that. The only signing that has been officially announced is their£65 million transfer of Kai Havertz from Chelsea.

Ԁєɑłs to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United for £105m and Ajax’s Jurrien Timber for £38.5m have also been agreed, with both players expected to be unveiled by the North Londoners in the coming days. It remains to be seen when exactly Rice and Timber will be integrated with the rest of Arteta’s squad but the aforementioned Havertz could be set for his Gunners’ debut this week.

As perthe Evening Standard, the talented playmaker travelled to Germany on Sunday for the club’s pre-season training camp, hoping to make his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt when they take on Nurnberg on Thursday. As he was one of the players involved in June’s international break, the 24-year-old only returned to training on Saturday.

This meant that he did not take part in the behind-closed-doors friєɴԀly against Watford over the weekєɴԀ – a match that єɴԀed 1-1. After the Nurnberg clash, the Gunners will travel to the USA for friєɴԀly fixtures against the MLS All-Stars, Manchester United and Barcelona.
