The 351-feetsuperyachtwas spotted in all its physical glory for the first time at the Peene-Werft shipyard in Wolgast, Germany. Icecap has already established a reputation of sorts since Moran Yacht & Ship announced she was sold to a secret buyer in 2018. The luxury vessel owned by Canadian billionaire John Carter Risley, the founder of Clearwater Seafoods, is a majestic boat with all the fanfare. Still, it will be known most for its performance. Lürssen Yachts’ 351-footer boasts 6,000 GT of interior volume, a steel hull, and an aluminum superstructure.
Without an inch of doubt, Icecap is one of the most advanced motor yachts ever to be built, flaunting state-of-the-art energy-saving, heating, and cooling with a diesel-electric propulsion package. It also holds large battery banks to run hotel functions.
The massive ship includes five decks to accommodate 20 guests across 10 cabins. Among Icecap’s key features is an extensive aft deck with a helipad that lowers the aircraft into storage. The owner is an avid fisherman and experienced yacht owner who wanted to tread beyond the limitations of a small boat and sail king size. The result was more room to store all kinds of gear.
