Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has been linked with a move to Southampton as Erik ten Hag has a decision to make on the youngster.
Diallo, who joined United in 2021 for an initial fee of £19m, spent last season on loan with Sunderland and quickly became a fan favourite at the Stadium of Light.
The 20-year-old played a key role in Sunderland reaching the playoffs, scoring 14 goals and proving three assists.
A return to Sunderland has already been mentioned, although another Championship club has now entered the race.
According toFootball Insider, Southampton have made contact with United over the possibility of taking Diallo on loan for the season.
New Southampton bossRussell Martin is said to be a big fan of the winger and would love to get him on board for the season.
Southampton will be targeting an immediate return to the Premier League and signing a player like Diallo would hugely boost their chances.
It has been ɾєρօɾτed that Ten Hag is willing to sєɴԀ Diallo out on loan once again to continue his development.
Along with Southampton and Sunderland, West Ham have also been sniffing around the dynamic winger.
The 20-year-old has made nine senior appearances for United, but he is yet to feature under Ten Hag.
At the єɴԀ of last season, Diallo briefly discussed his future and reaffirmed his desire to play for United.
“My dream was to play for United. When I signed I was happy. Everyone in my family was happy. I hope maybe next season I get my chance,” the winger toldSky Sports.
“I have a lot of thoughts in my head but my ambition now is to come back to Manchester United and maybe to get my chance.”
Ten Hag was happy with the loan spell and when askedwhether Diallo would have a role to play in the future he told ɾєρօɾτers: “Yes, of course.
“We loan such players to let them develop and make progress, to bring them back. That is the aim of a loan.
“We are really strong on them in the matter of the way we mentor them. We follow them and we have communication thɾօυɢҺ all the season.
“Especially Darren Fletcher – he invests a lot in such processes and the aim is to bring them back as a better player and with better experience.”
