Man Utd are set to make Mason Mount their first signing of the summer and Erik ten Hag could look to add another midfielder to his squad during this window.

Manchester United are keeping their options open over a second midfield signing this summer, with Mason Mount on the verge of becoming the first new arrival of the window.

Mountis set to complete an initial £55million switch from Chelsea having agreed a five-year contract and passed his medical at Carrington on Monday. The fee could rise to £60million, but the add-ons are heavily depєɴԀant on team success.

The arrival of the 24-year-old is set to see Fred depart and Fulham are interested in signing the 30-year Brazilian, who has one year left on his contract.

The academy graduate has been the subject of interest from Newcastle and West Ham this summer, although any move would be depєɴԀent onUnited getting an offer too good to refuseand whether McTominay wants to move on.

The 26-year-old started 10 Premier League games last season but finished the campaign as a backup to Casemiro. Although it is considered more likely that he stays than leaves at the moment, he is a sellable asset in a window when United need to boost their transfer budget with sales.

As a result of the uncertainty around McTominay’s future, United are monitoring defensive midfielders in case they need to make a move at any point in the window.

They have been linked with a move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, with the 26-year-old having worked under Ten Hag at FC Utrecht in 2007. United are also one of several Premier League teams monitoring 19-year-old Romeo Lavia following Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League.
