Last summer, the Catalans pulled off the marquee signing of Robert Lewandowski, who enjoyed a stellar start to life in La Liga as he helped secure the title and clinched the Pichichi trophy.
However, it appears that the Pole’s contributions to the club have not just been confined to the pitch, with his influence aiding the recruitment department behind the scenes as well.
In a recent revelation byTomasz Włodarczyk, Lewandowski played a role in the transfer of Gundogan. During the most recent Poland vs. Germany game in Warsaw, he met with the Manchester City captain and convinced him to sign forBarça.
Lewandowski’s efforts bore fruit, with several reliable media outlets recently confirming the successful signing of Gundogan on a free transfer, although an official announcement is yet to arrive.
This will not be the first time Lewandowski and Gundogan are sharing the same dressing room. In fact, the pair were teammates back in Borussia Dortmund.
Between 2011 and 2014, Gundogan and Lewandowski played three seasons together in Germany. They won the Bundesliga title together, which was Dortmund’s final league title before Bayern Munich imposed their complete dominance.
