Mount has just a year left on his contract and Chelsea face the prospect of seeing him leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer next year, which is why they are open to selling this summer.

According toThe Athletic, United have returned with a proposal of £45m plus a further £5m in add-ons for the midfielder.

But the ɾєρօɾτ claims that Chelsea have sent a counter proposal of £60m up front and an additional £5m in add-ons.

It’s also claimed that an agreement between the two clubs is ‘edging closer’.

United are also weighing up whether to enter the race for West Ham captain Declan Rice.

Arsenal have already seen two bids rєjєƈτed for Rice as West Ham continue to hold out for a transfer fee in excess of £100m.

United are willing to offset the cost by offering either Scott McTominay or Harry Maguire as part of the Ԁєɑł, although both players would need to agree to a move to West Ham.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are on the verge of selling Kai Havertz to Arsenal.

The Premier League runners-up have agreed a £65m Ԁєɑł with Chelsea for the Germany international and a medical is now set to be scheduled.
